Pillar System

The MHMS Pillar system inducts high school students into one of four Pillars for their high school career: Athena, Artemis, Apollo, and Poseidon. These Pillars compete throughout the year in friendly games, projects, dress-up days, and other aspects of campus life.

Early in the fall, MHMS transforms into Greek Week, during which each Pillar decorates part of the campus and competes in fun, crazy challenges to win the Greek Week pep rally. In the spring, Pillars go head-to-head during Field Day for the ultimate bragging rights—the Panhellenic Cup—and a special field trip to celebrate the win.

While the Pillar system has been compared to the House system (think Harry Potter), it is unique in two important ways:

  • Cross-grade relationships: Students from all four high school grade levels get to know each other within their Pillar while enjoying friendly competition with other Pillars.
  • Collaboration and cooperation: Pillar success depends on teamwork, support, and unity—it's not just about competition.

Legacies

Siblings are considered legacies and will continue the tradition by joining the same Pillar as their family members.

Middle School: Order of Heroes

Middle school students join a similar structure known as the Order of Heroes beginning in 6th grade. The six Orders are:

  • Aeneas
  • Achilles
  • Heracles
  • Odysseus
  • Perseus
  • Theseus
