Middle School Counseling
The Middle School Counselor is available for:
Individual Counseling
Students, parents, and teachers are encouraged to refer for students to receive individual appointments as needed for academic, social, and emotional support. Please email or call me if at any time you would like for me to check in with your child.
Group Counseling
Throughout the year, I teach skills and strategies in small group settings, allowing students to share ideas and offer support through discussion and activities. Groups include skills-based (social/friendship, study skills, emotion identification/regulation) and social/emotional support. Group curricula are research-based and geared for middle school-aged students.
Guidance Class
One to two times a month I meet with 6th, 7th, and 8th graders for guidance classes with focus on personal and social, academic, and career development. Some topics may include but are not limited to wellness, friendships, mindfulness, organization, study skills and habits, time-management, personal strengths, communication, and career interests and aptitudes.
Enrichment Class
(Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays-Mrs. Armour; Tuesdays and Thursdays-Ms. Starke)
Enrichment is designed to give 6th grade students the opportunity to have dedicated time for activities in areas such as study skills, communication skills, social and emotional health, and wellness. We may spend some time inside the classroom as well as outdoors. This time allows students to have direct access to the counselor and the ability to make appointments. Mrs. Armour helps students sharpen their seminar skills and provides enriching literature for book talks. We adapt class lessons to meet the needs of our students along the way.
Consultation and Outside referrals
I am happy to collaborate and consult with teachers and other professionals inside and outside of our building to provide our students with the best possible experience. If at any time you are seeking additional support or information, please reach out and I will do my best to connect you with the appropriate person or agency.
