Merrol Hyde Magnet School

Wynde Sloan currently teaches 3rd grade at MHMS. She grew up in Charleston, South Carolina and attended The College of Charleston, where she earned a B.S. in Special Education with an emphasis on Behavior Disorders. She earned her M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction after moving to Tennessee. She also has 30 plus graduate hours, mostly in elementary guidance. She has taught in South Carolina (Charleston, Myrtle Beach, and Spartanburg), and at Rucker Stewart Middle School.  She has been teaching at Merrol Hyde since the very first year in 2003. She chose to pursue teaching because she was fascinated with the subject of emotionally disturbed children as a teenager. She lives with her husband, Dale, and she has two sons: Alex and Thomas (both have graduated from Merrol Hyde). She enjoys reading, playing the piano, cooking, spending time with friends, and traveling to the beach.
