Since transportation is the responsibility of each student and family, it is important that we all work together and understand our policies and procedures so that student safety stays our top priority. Below are the policies surrounding arrival and dismissal on regular (8:00-3:00) school days. Alternate schedules (i.e., delayed openings or early dismissals) will be communicated to parents via all channels as soon as they are known.
There is 1 major clarification to our procedures this year:
All students must be picked up by 3:30 pm—no staff member is on duty after this time and we cannot insure your student’s safety without supervision.
Students are not permitted to wait in the cafeteria, library, or other areas of the building for their rides. There is no supervision.
Elementary and Middle school students not picked up by 3:30 more than 2 times will be enrolled in the Unity after school program and parents will be responsible for that tuition.
High school students not picked up by 3:30 will be taken to the office or Plato lab for mandatory study hall, and parents will be required to come inside the building to pick them up.
The building will be open for students at 7:00 am. All elementary and middle school students must use the main/cafeteria entrance and remain in the commons area until 7:45. High school students may use the commons area or the library between 7:00-7:45 am.
The upstairs doors will be unlocked for students at 7:45 am.
Once a student has arrived on campus, he/she must immediately enter the building and is NOT allowed to leave campus for any reason without permission from an administrator. This means students may not walk to parking lots or local restaurants after they have arrived on the campus and/or entered the building.
Parents are reminded not to use cell phones during drop off.
Elementary students may be dropped off at the elementary doors (near the stadium and flag pole) at 7:45.
Students may not be dropped off in the parking areas—only the circular drive at the elementary wing or the front car lane at the front of the school.
Pick-Up and Dismissal
Families with students in both elementary and middle or high school will need to go through both lines to pick up. Middle and high school students will not be dismissed to cars downstairs until 3:20 pm.
Elementary students will be dismissed to cars beginning at 3:00 pm.
Drivers must not use their cell phones; drivers will need a sign with the student’s name clearly displayed on the dash or visor.
Drivers will need to obey the directions of the teachers on duty and pull as far forward as possible so that we can load students efficiently.
Once in the pick-up line, drivers are not allowed to merge out of the line and pass other cars.
Middle and High school students will be dismissed from the upper loop beginning at 3:05 pm. High school students will gather in the front of the gym, and middle school students will move down the sidewalk to the side of the gym.
NOTE: the upper car line begins with a double line, and will merge into a single line.
Drivers are reminded not to use cell phones during pick-up.
Drivers will need to follow the directions of teachers and staff on duty to keep the lines moving.
Students who have not been picked up by 3:20 will report to the commons area and courtyard.
All students must be picked up by 3:30 pm—no staff member is on duty after this time and it is a safety issue.
