MHMS is committed to excellence in K-12, college preparatory education that emphasizes a well-rounded experience using the Paideia philosphy of teaching the whole child - mind, body, and spirit. We are different than other public programs because our goals and philosophy focus on the learning experience and growth of each student. MHMS draws from all of Sumner County, TN, adding to our diverse student population. We are intentional about attracting all students and families. By choosing MHMS for your student and family, you will get the opportunity to join our journey which includes some of our accomplishments:
Mind - Academics
At Merrol Hyde, students are encouraged to challenge themselves. Being a K-12 school provides opportunities for elementary students to interact in an academic setting with middle and high school students as well as opportunities for building connections, setting expectations, and instilling at a young age the value of a quality education. Visit our Academics home page to learn more about the courses we offer.
We are Ranked at the State and National Level
Merrol Hyde Magnet School has been recognized multiple times on the local, state, and national level. We are ranked #1 elementary, #1 middle school, and #1 high school in Tennessee, and consistently ranked nationally among all high schools.
We are a Nationally Accredited Paideia school
Every student regularly participates in Paideia seminars which help them see and respect the values and ideas of classic literature, art, music, current events, and each of their classmates. Click here to learn more about Paideia
We Focus on Foreign Language
Every student is exposed to foreign language starting in kindergarten. MHMS is not an immersion school; yet our students learn the basic conversation, grammar, and culture of French, Spanish, Latin, and Mandarin Chinese
