Darren Frank is the proud principal of MHMS. He graduated from UT Knoxville with a degree in special education, which certified him to teach all levels of special education (remedial through gifted) in grades K-12. He also holds a Master of Arts Degree in Education from Cumberland University; a Plus-30 Endorsement in curriculum and instruction from TSU and Union University in Hendersonville. During his sophomore year in college, Mr. Frank spent a semester in Grantham, England studying abroad at Harlaxton College, a sister campus of the University of Evansville. As a classroom teacher, Mr. Frank never had aspirations to become a school administrator. However, in fall 2002, his principal asked him to serve as the assistant principal for the spring semester. Darren enjoyed administration so much that he decided to remain an assistant principal, where he learned his strengths and weaknesses within a school. In 2011 Mr. Frank replaced the retiring principal of Ellis Middle School, where he remained until joining the team at MHMS as principal in Summer 2016. Darren and his wife, Kim, both grew up in Hendersonville. Mr Frank attended Nannie Berry Elementary, Hawkins Jr. High (grades 7-9), and Hendersonville High School, where he met Kim. He has two children: Adam (MHMS class of 2017) and Sally (MHMS class of 2023). Mr. Frank's older sister teaches English at Station Camp High School. His parents, who are still very influential in his family, are retired and live in Hendersonville. Mr. Frank enjoys any outdoor activities, especially with family. He never passes up an opportunity to take a walk with his wife Kim, and has a passion for international mission work through his church.
