Kindergarten applicants must be 5 years of age by August 15, 2016 and cannot be currently attending, enrolled in, or completed/ audited any Kindergarten program.

-- Students applying to Merrol Hyde Magnet School will be given an entrance exam. Applicants must score 85% or higher in reading, math, and language on the exam. Copies of the last 2 years report cards must be submitted with the application for grades 6 – 12. Applicants must have a B average or above.
-- Merrol Hyde Magnet School is an Academic Magnet School focused on advanced academic achievement. Students will be assigned projects and summer reading.
-- Students at Merrol Hyde Magnet School are required to wear a uniform. Students in grades 7 - 12 are required to participate in a school sport.--
-- Special education services are available in all schools in Sumner County, including Merrol Hyde Magnet, for children meeting the enrollment criteria. The Sumner County School System does not discriminate against students with disabilities. An IEP Team at the school will meet on an individual basis to determine what services a student needs.
-- In an effort to align the MHMS screening process with best practices in the use of data, initial screening results will be valid for the following lengths of time: K-2 three years 3-12 one year
When that time limit is reached, students remaining on the waiting list will be reconsidered for entry eligibility by using the individual results from the district assessments (TCAP, EOC, TN READY). Students whose scores are not in the 85%tile range on current assessments will be removed from the waiting list.
