Boys and Girls
Only Vendors used for MHMS

Larose (in Nashville) Only
navy and khaki pants may be purchased from this vendor.
Belts
All students except kindergarten students are required to
wear a belt daily with pants that have belt loops. Only black, blue, and brown belts may be
worn.
No metal,
sparkles, or jewels should be on belts except for a plain, metal buckle
Shoes
- The
following styles and colors may be worn.
Black, navy, and
brown lace up or loafer style slip-ons
Black, grey, navy
or white tennis shoes – any may have white trim
Saddle oxfords in
black/white, brown/white or navy/white
Black, navy, or
brown strapped “Mary Janes”
- All
gym(tennis) shoes must have white or black shoe strings
- No sandals, backless shoes, or boots
of any kind may be worn
- No flashing lights or characters
on shoes
Socks and Tights
- Socks
or tights are required
- Colors: Navy, tan, or white only
- No nylons, only tights
Sweaters
- Colors: Solid colors only

blue, yellow, or navy
V-neck
Cardigan style
Vests
- No cable knit, fleece, or
sweatshirts
- No tunic length sweaters.
- All
sweaters must be worn over collared shirts.
Outerwear
There are no dress code standards for coats worn to
school. Students will be required to put
coats away and will not be allowed to wear them during the day except during
recess.
Miscellaneous

No
extreme hair color or hairstyles.

Hair length must be worn to allow eyes to be
seen at all times, not just when hair is momentarily swept back
Required for All
Students
Each student needs a white
shirt embroidered with the Merrol Hyde Magnet School crest. These can be
ordered from Lands’ End or the school.
You make take purchased shirts to Concept One in Gallatin
(452-2900). This needs to be a CRESTED
SHIRT, not just one with the school name monogrammed on it.
Each student will also need one navy crewneck long sleeved sweater with the crest. Crested sweaters may be ordered from Lands’
End. You may also take purchased sweaters to Concept One in Gallatin
to be embroidered.
Girls
Accessories
- Only solid
color hair bows and ribbons that match the shirt colors
- Headbands
and scrunchies should also be solid colors that match shirt or pant colors
- Barrettes
– Solid colors only and brass or silver with no jewels or sparkles
- No large hair clips
- Earrings
– Must be post only. No dangle or hoop style
- Nail
polish – natural or light colors only.
No black or bold colors
such as green, blue or purple. This will be at the teachers’ discretion.
- No
excessive jewelry. This will at the
teachers’ discretion.
Skirts, Skorts,
Pants, Shorts, and Jumpers that follow the following guidelines may be
purchased from Lands’ End or French Toast School Catalogs. All pants, skorts,
skirts, and shorts should snap, button, or hook at the waist level.
- Plaid: The only plaid used is Blue/Gold from
the French Toast catalog for skirts and jumpers.
- Uniform
style with flat or pleated front and belt loops (except for elastic style
for younger students)
- No rivets, metal
accessories, cargo pockets, patch pockets, top stitched inner pockets, or
blue jean style topstitching on seams. Twin Buckle Tab Jumper from French Toast
is acceptable as well as crop pants from Lands’ End.
- All
cuffs and hems must be closed with no
slits on sides with the exception of the crop pants available from Lands’
End.
- All
jumpers, shorts, skirts, and skorts may be no shorter than three
inches from the bend of the back of the knee.
- No overalls or carpenter pants
- No pants that sag or drag
- All
pants and shorts must be hemmed.
They may not be rolled up.
Crop pants
in navy or khaki may be purchased from Lands’ End only.
Navy and Khaki pants may be purchased from Larose if they
meet the above guidelines.
Shirts
that follow the following guidelines may be purchased from Lands’ End or French
Toast School Catalogs. No shirts
will be available from Larose.
- Colors: Solid white, navy, light yellow or light
blue with the exception of the Peter Pan white collared shirt with navy
trim available from French Toast.
- Styles: Polo style knits with long or short
sleeves (no ¾ length sleeves)
Oxford
cloth shirt with long or short sleeves (no ¾ length sleeves)
Uniform style blouses with
Peter Pan collar with long or short sleeves (no
¾ length sleeves)
Turtle neck or mock turtle
neck shirts are acceptable (no ¾ length
sleeves)
- No writing, emblems, or metal
accessories on shirts.
- All
shirts must have
collars.
- Any
undershirt or t-shirt worn under uniform shirts must be white or the color
of the uniform shirt. There should
be no writing on the undershirt
that can be read through the uniform shirt.
Boys
Pants and shorts
