Government Club
Model United Nations and Youth Legislature operate under the
Government Club and both are open to all high school students as a
club activity. Model UN takes place in the fall and Youth
Legislature takes place in the spring. The Nashville YMCA’s Center
for Civic Engagement is the orchestrator of these activities. Kim
Howard and Raz Molitu are the co-sponsors for these organizations.
Both activities require research, a resolution or bill, debate,
commitment to attend practice sessions and conferences. The
Government Club officers that are selected by the students run the
practice sessions and oversee most club activities. Students learn
leadership skills, organizational skills, public speaking, debate,
the function of the UN and our state government in a first-hand
interactive way.
