Course Description:
Physical education will stress physical fitness through individual, team and lifelong activities.

Philosophy: 

1.  To provide an opportunity for maximum participation in a variety of physical education games and activities.
2.  To develop basic skills in all units covered.
3.  To apply advanced knowledge of rules and strategies in game situations.

Classroom Discipline Policy

1.  Verbal warning
2.  Time-out from activity
3.  Detention assigned

Classroom Expectations

Expectations: 
1.  Students will have a change of clothes for physical education each day.
2.  Students will come to class on time and ready to participate in all activities.
3.  Students will respect themselves, others, and the equipment in use.
4.  Students will display good sportsmanship and etiquette and appropriate language in all competitive situations.

Change of Clothing
1.  All students must be dressed in appropriate physical education attire during every class period.

2.  Physical education attire consists of:

·        blue shorts that come to fingertip length

·        gym shirt provided by class once, thereafter $5.00
       * gym shoes with laces and low, non-marking rubber soles
        *deodorant is recommended - no glass containers

·        during colder weather - sweats, jackets are recommended                       * clothing worn to school may not be worn for physical education class

Safety Rules
1.  Safety rules specific to each activity are covered at the beginning of each unit.  You are responsible for knowing and obeying the rules.
2.  Students must use all equipment only as instructed to do so by the teacher.
3.  Students may not use equipment until given permission by the teacher.
4.  Jewelry should not be worn during activity.  It is your responsibility to remove and secure jewelry before class begins.
5.  No gum chewing is allowed in class.  Detention will be given to repeat offenders.
6.  Students must keep hands, feet, and objects to themselves.
7.  All injuries should be reported to the teacher immediately.
