The
Choral
Department at Merrol Hyde Magnet school is directed
by Kathy Lehman. Students from grades five through eleven are
eligible to audition. Currently there are four select choirs
that meet each day.
of Beginning, Middle and High School Symphonic Bands, a Jazz
Ensemble and
a String Ensemble. Symphonic Bands are open to students in
grades six
through twelve and meet daily throughout the school year. The
Jazz and
String Ensembles meet once a week, and are open to students in
grades six
through twelve.
The
Speech and Theatre Department
is
headed by Courtney Spears. Sixth through eighth grade has
theatre in the middle school art rotation. In the high school
curriculum, Theatre Arts is offered. Advanced Theatre will
perform the drama Flowers For Algernon on October 4th
and 5th and a One Act on December 6th .
Theatre Arts I classes will perform a One Act on December 6th
and a Children’s Play in March. Basics of speaking,
acting, theatre history, and production are covered in this
first course.
