The Art
department is headed

The MHMS Choral Music Department is divided into four choirs under the direction of Beth Philemon. Each ensemble meets every day for 50 minutes in middle school and 90 minutes in high school. With the exception of show choir, choirs are open to all students regardless of previous music experience or not. The choral department presents two concerts a year that includes all choirs.
The
Instrumental Music Department
is headed by Alan Clark, and consists
of Beginning, Middle and High School Symphonic Bands, a Jazz
Ensemble and
a String Ensemble. Symphonic Bands are open to students in
grades six
through twelve and meet daily throughout the school year. The
Jazz and
String Ensembles meet once a week, and are open to students in
grades six

The
Speech and Theatre
Department is headed by Courtney Spears. Eighth grade has
theatre in the middle school art rotation. In the high school
curriculum, Theatre Arts is offered. In Theatre Arts I, basics
of speaking, acting, theatre history, and play production are
studied. Advanced Theatre are for students who have
completed Theatre I. In 2008 this class performed a Forensics
Showcase in September and “The Crazy, Mixed-up Island of Dr.
Moreau” by Tim Kelly on Halloween. In Spring of 2009, Advanced
Theatre will present a main production on April 23 and 24.
