Below is information on 6th and 7th grade science classes, including the textbooks that you can access online!

6th Grade Science

In 6th Grade Science we will be studying life science, earth science, and physical science including the following:

  • Interaction of Living Things

  • Environmental Issues

  • Solar System

  • Climate

  • Energy and Heat

  • Electromagnetism

  • Waves

  • Sound

  • Light

For more specifics on what we will be learning, see the 6th grade science curriculum at:

http://www.state.tn.us/education/ci/cistandards2001/sci/ciscig68stand.htm

There is an online version of the student textbook. It can be accessed from the Holt Science website www.go.hrw.com. Students have received a username and a password. The online version of the book is exactly like the student text. This resource could help lighten those backpacks!

7th Grade Science

In 7th Grade Science we will be studying life science, earth science, and physical science including the following:

  • Cell Function and Structure

  • Animals and Behavior

  • Body Organization

  • Earth's Ecosystems

  • Flow of Fresh Water

  • Weather and Climate

  • Properties of Matter

  • Elements, Compounds, and Mixtures

  • The Periodic Table

For more specifics on what we will be learning, see the 7th grade science curriculum at:

http://www.state.tn.us/education/ci/cistandards2001/sci/ciscig68stand.htm

There is an online version of the student textbook. It can be accessed from the Holt Science website www.go.hrw.com. Students have received a username and a password. The online version of the book is exactly like the student text. This resource could help lighten those backpacks!

There is an online version of the student textbook. It can be accessed from the Holt Science website http://my.hrw.com/hrw/login_all.jsp. Each student has been provided a username and password for their access. The online version of the book is exactly like the student text. This resource could help lighten those backpacks!

Advanced Honors Physical Science

In Physical Science we will be studying mainly Chemistry and Physics, including:

  • Force and motion

  • Structure and properties of matter

  • Interactions of matter

  • Energy

For more specifics on what we will be learning, see the Physical Science curriculum guide at:

http://www.state.tn.us/education/ci/cistandards2001/sci/cisciphysicalscience.htm

In Physical Science, we will be spending a great deal of time on laboratory technique and science skills. So expect to see lab reports being worked on as homework. There is a lab report rubric in every student’s notebook and a section on the syllabus about what is expected on lab reports.

There is an online version of the student textbook. It can be accessed from the Glencoe Science website http://www.glencoe.com/sec/science/ose/index.html. Our username is “PHYSICAL” and our password is “qarefu9ube”. The online version of the book is exactly like the student text. This resource could help lighten those backpacks.
