View student post seminar activities from
the recent School-wide seminars on Earth Day. The
assignment was:
Create a
description of an actual Earth Day Celebration that you believe
we would all want to attend and make a part of our national
holidays such as Independence Day or Thanksgiving. What would
it look like, what would Americans do, will there be fireworks,
a tree, roasted turkey, greeting cards?

DUAL ENROLLMENT:
SY2006-07
Dual
Enrollment courses are courses taught by Vol. State professors
on our campus. Traditionally they have been available for
Seniors who are willing to work hard
and earn some college credit before they actually graduate.
This year MHMS is offering 4 Dual Enrollment courses for
Juniors. Students must score a 19 on
the ACT and have an A/B average to be eligible for the courses.
Our courses this year are English 1010, English 1020,
Psychology 101, and Multi-media. We have approximately 30 of
our Juniors taking 1 or more of these
courses. The college credit is earned through Vol. State and is
accepted at most colleges and universities. More courses will
be added next year and will be open to both
Juniors and Seniors.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT:
Advanced
Placement courses are trademark classes offered by the College
Board (SAT). The teachers must receive specialized training
from the College Board to help train them in what needs to be
taught in these classes. At the end of the year the students
take a test (cost about $85). If they make the required score
they receive college credit as well as their high school credit
for the course. This year we are offering AP US History. We
will add several more classes next year. Some of the
possibilities are English, Spanish, French, Latin, Biology,
Chemistry, Government and Economics, and European History.
Course offerings will be based upon student needs and requests.
All courses may not be available every year.
